Crisse

Crisse (the pen name of Didier Chrispeels) was born in Belgium in 1958.

As far back as he can remember, Crisse always dreamt of drawing comic books (although he hasn't fully given up yet on becoming a pro soccer player). Influenced by Franco-Belgian comics since he was a kid, his masters were Dany, Peyo and Uderzo, without forgetting the Walt Disney universe that nurtured his childhood.

Precocious and fully self-taught, his work was first published at 19 years old. He then discovered the Frazetta illustrations, the "Lord of the Rings" cartoon and the new wave of comics. Mixing up these influences will give birth to: Nahomi, l'Epée de Cristal (The Crystal Sword), Kookaburra and Atalante. Passionate about his work, he also writes for other artists. Riding at leisure the waves of the heroic fantasy and space opera genres, if you count all his successful titles and their numerous translations, you can estimate his readers to be several million.

He also ventured briefly into the world of US comics by drawing an episode of Tellos based on a scenario from Todd Dezago.

Nowadays, he is devoting his time to comic books for a younger audience. Anya is his latest book.
